Stroud Poets

Launched 31st March 2021

I have always loved working with and being around artists. A few years ago, I collaborated with Roberto González García, whose photograph, “Bay of Egrets" was an Urban Wildlife finalist in the National History Museum’s Wildlife Photographer of the Year, 2017. I also have collaborated with Diana Taylor on a poetry film based on my poem water

Towards the end of 2020 I started to write some poems as responses to award winning images from creative photographers from various countries. The photographs were entries into the Cheltenham International Salons of Photography 2019 & 2020. I found much to inspire me in these creative images. All the photographs I have selected have a surreal quality, which I love, and seem to invite a narrative. Through my local camera club, who organise this annual photography competition, I have been able to contact the photographers involved and ask for their permission to use the images.

Five of these images and their poems have been published by Yew Tree Press of Stroud in conjunction with the work of two other poets, Olivier Huband and Andrew Stafford.  The photographers come from various locations: UK, Hong Kong and Australia.
