When Duncan loses his pet woodlouse, nothing can comfort him. Mum offers him a puppy instead. Dad offers him another woodlouse. Grandma offers him pocket money and Sam a go on his skateboard. None of these can replace Reggie. Just as Duncan thinks he'll never see Reggie again, Mum comes round the corner with her new see-through bag-less hoover. There, looking out towards freedom, is Reggie.
No one can understand why Duncan won't take off his woolly hat in the warm weather. Only Duncan knows the reason: underneath his hat is a bird's egg. At last the hat begins to move. Carefully, Duncan lifts it off his head. There, wriggling about, is a baby sparrow. He'd been hatching the egg in the warmest, safest place he knew – underneath his hat.
Rory to the Rescue

This is a simple story about friendship and helping each other out.
Rory is a Cockapoo who visits his friend, Mr Rimmer, once a week. It's Autumn and leaves are everywhere. Mr Rimmer, a tidy man, sets about clearing them up. But he's old and his back has gone. What's to be done? Rory has a great idea. He uses his tail to sweep the leaves into piles. In no time at all the garden is neat. When the neighbours get to hear about the dog-tail-brush they want Rory to clear their gardens too. Mr Rimmer decides growing old isn't so bad when you have a good friend like Rory.
