I've worked in schools offering creative sessions in dance, drama, art and creative writing. A highlight was a project I did for the Arts Council called Bringing Literature to Life. I worked with over 800 pupils from reception to year six over many months. The project proved particularly popular with children who had difficulty taking an interest in learning. One pupil said: I liked all the sessions, the drama games, the dancing and the telling of the story. Overall teachers felt they gained more confidence to try out creative approaches into literacy. Being Poet in Residence at an inner city school in Bristol was another rewarding project. I loved to hear the children's poems that reflected lives from different cultures and backgrounds.
